·         A filter with a special cation exchange resin - this is the substance that purifies water from an excess of dissolved impurities.
·         Capacity in which water gets for cleaning by the principle of ion exchange.
·         Thermal shroud for proper operation of the filter unit.
Water is poured into the filter through a distributor in the upper part of the unit, then it gradually passes through a cationic resin: the movement proceeds from top to bottom, while the ion exchange process takes place, and ions of hardness salts are replaced by other cations. The purified water is lowered through the lower switchgear and removed from the filter unit.
In order to free the filter from accumulated salts and restore its efficiency, a backwash is periodically performed: the water flow is directed in the opposite direction, as a result, the ion-exchange resin is loosened, and the collected sludge is washed out of it through a special valve into the sewer pipe. It is advisable to carry out such flushing weekly to prevent contamination of the aggregate and a decrease in its effectiveness.
What determines the cost of a water softener plant?
A water softener in a house or apartment can have different costs, its price will depend on several main factors:
·    Equipment performance. It depends on the number of ion-exchange filters installed. The more of them, the faster the cleaning process will go, and the more purified water can be obtained in a short time.
·         Source of the source water. A water softener plant for an apartment is usually cheaper since you only have to purify the pre-treated water entering the city water supply.
·         Type of ion exchange resins used. The choice of reagent will depend on the requirements for softening the water and its source.
